На прошлой неделе состоялось радостное событие для всех поклонников военных симуляций по типу Day of the Defeat - появилась новая версия мода FireArms 2.8. Все те, кто ещё не встречался с данной модификацией, могут ознакомиться с ней по ближе по адресу www.firearmsmod.com. Поверьте, она этого действительно стоит.

New CVARS:

  • "cl_optimizedraw"
  • "cl_optimizedraw" allows you to enable entity based optimizations which may result in a performance increase on slower machines. However, this may also cause extreme visual abnormalities in certain situations. default: 0
  • "cl_weather"
  • "cl_weather" allows you to enable or disable Firearms' particle based weather systems. Slower computers will experience a slight performance increase with this set to 0. default: 1
  • "cl_weathereffects"
  • "cl_weathereffects" enables or disables weather based effects, such as water splashes. Slower computers will experience a slight performance increase with this set to 0. default: 1


We strongly recommend playing Firearms 2.8 through Valve's Steam application. If you have yet to get Firearms working within Steam, you should download the full version of 2.8, regardless of any other versions of Firearms you have installed separately. It will make sure you avoid any potential problems with missing files. It is possible to play Firearms 2.8 using the independent Half-Life launcher as well, and will be until the old authorisation servers are taken down. However, you will need to download this file and unzip it to your Half-Life folder. It contains the files used for the Firearms menus, as well as updated rendering .dlls from Day of Defeat 1.0, to enable masked textures on models.
